LESSON: The topic this month is “Sarah's Ultimate Guide to Book Blurbs” which will be facilitated by Sarah Grosskopf! Here is what she has to say. Last month, we talked about how to write about other people's books. This month, we'll look at how to write blurbs for your own book. We'll cover the one thing readers look for first, strategies for condensing your novel or nonfiction book into a few compelling sentences, where to start, what to include and what to leave out, and how to inspire readers with burning questions that can only be answered by buying your book. ASSIGNMENT: Read the back cover blurbs or Amazon sales pages for several of your favorite books. Bring a few examples to discuss with the group. PROMPT: Write a blurb for one of your own books or practice writing one for a favorite book or movie. REMINDER: Those who received a free book in order to write an honest review, please share where you posted your reviews. Or bring your review in progress if you have any questions for completing your review. Inspired readers given excellent take-away = return readers!
