WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA--1774 and NEW YORK, NEW YORK--1914

There is a WOW in my heart and mind over reading Libby’s story! I’ve never read a book quite like this. Gabrielle Meyer wove two timelines (1776 and 1914) concerning the same main character with such historical meticulousness and heart that she made an interesting and compelling read. Libby not only lives with a beloved family who need her during the dawning of the Revolutionary War, but she is also in a wealthy family with high society expectations during the Gilded Age in New York City.  When she turns twenty-one, she has to choose which life she will live. There will be no reversal of such a decision and her compassionate heart is pulled in every direction.

When the Day Comes is a treasure trove of excellent characters and delicious page-turning tension. The historical backdrop expertly adorns the story to enhance the plot and challenge the characters. This is not surprising since Gabrielle’s day job is working for a Historical Society! I just discovered that book 4 releases this coming November 2024. Well, I can’t wait to read books 2, 3, and then 4!

Just a side note, I went to a wonderful praise and worship night and talked with two young girls. The youngest one dove into a book that was 6 inches thick—just kidding. It was probably 4 inches thick! We talked, and I pointed out Gabrielle’s book from my Kindle App on my phone, and both girls chimed in with great enthusiasm that they had just read the book and loved When the Day Comes! The younger lady admitted not liking reading before, but she is enjoying it now. The older young lady stated, you just need to find something good to read!

That said, I have found something good to read. When the Day Comes is a clean, inspiring, thought-provoking book —a definite favorite!
